Description:

William Chapman and Thomas his son have lately had their carts stolen away from them by thieves to them as yet unknown to the utter undoing of them and their poor wives. Parkes knew the thieves and where the goods are but says he will not say for any man in England. As Chapman goes daily to seek out the thieves Chapman threatened to have him bound over to keep the peace. That he has had Elizabeth Chapman taken before Sir William Lygon and that as his (Parkes) house has been lately broken into he intends to have the said Elizabeth arrested on suspicion of felony. That Parkes procured the Constable to arrest the said Elizabeth who laide violent hands upon her notwithstanding they were entreated not to deal rigorously with her they knowinge her to be with child who is in danger of losing her burden and of further sorrow and woe. Ordered that Parkes be bound over to his good behaviour.
