Description:

Folios 238-242. Workhouse Inspection Report Form from Horace Moule, Assistant Poor Law Inspector to the Local Government Board, reporting his inspection of the Mitford and Launditch Poor Law Union Workhouse on 19 October 1872. It includes details of medical provision, management of the school, the vagrant wards and numbers of inmates. He finds it to be generally satisfactory, while recommending a number of improvements to the boy's water closet and the infectious diseases ward He mentions John King and Robert Briggs admitted since Mr Wilkes, Commissioner in Lunacy reprt as dangerous.
Annotated: [Mr Loage]. Do you [memorandum] enable you to say whether the psotion of the boys privies which is now objected to was discussused when the baord's plans were before them. 11 November 1872.
Annotated: 'I beg to advise the board to address the guardaians on the subject adverted to by Mr Moule under question 18. At the same time I have to remind the board that extensive alterations have just been completed in the workhouse under the sanction of the board and the boys privies were then sanctiond', H B Farnall. 7 November 1872.
