Didworthy Voluntary Assisted Sanatorium South Brent, opened in 1903 for the treatment of consumptives from Devon and Cornwall. It comprised several blocks divided into male and female wards. A new wing was opened in 1913 for ten men. The hospital was transferred to the local health authority control.

 

Lee Mill Hospital situated near Ivybridge opened in 1928 for geriatric patients. It was closed in 1989, then partially re-opened for patients with learning difficulties. Currently it is in use, though at a much reduced level.
