Title: The Journals of Thomas Brocas
Description:

What follows is an indication of the character of the journal entries rather than a comprehensive catalogue. At times Brocas made daily entries in his journal, more usually once or twice a week, while at times there are gaps (usually while he is away on business) of several weeks. Generally, significant entries concerning business, religion, and life in Shrewsbury and Shropshire are here noted, but not those concerning family matters, Brocas's religious beliefs and doubts and routine visits to preach or hear others preach, national events, and the weather.

The two surviving journals here represented are but part of a larger series. Something of the contents of those that do not survive can be got from Memoir of the late Mr. Thomas Brocas, of Shrewsbury (London, 1821) [copy in Local Studies Library, Shrewsbury], which draws extensively on them.
