The chantry of St Katherine in Gillingham parish was founded in around 1330. Its lands were granted to the school in 1550. This also included land in Silton and Woolland. The school held manorial court meetings in the Chantry House in Gillingham. In the eighteenth century there were a number of legal disputes as the Governors and stewards sought to discover lost lands and seek redress in the Chancery Court. Most of the land was sold in the nineteenth century.
