Title: Papers of James Archibald Douglas
Description:

The Douglas archive comprises correspondence and reports concerning his fossil identification work, from about 1919 to 1949, for the Anglo-Persian Oil Co. (APOC) later the Anglo-Iranian Oil Co. (AIOC) and the Iraq Petroleum Co. Ltd. (IPCL). Other fossil collections came to him from South America: Peru and Venezuela, etc., sometimes also via the agency of the APOC. Douglas spent his entire career at Oxford, becoming Professor of Geology in 1937.

Date: 1884-1978
Arrangement:

N.B. Material found together in Douglas's folders has mostly been kept together, preserving his order, with the exception of some South American material put with other, similar material. This means that items of diverse dates are sometimes to be found together because he grouped material geographically. More recent items tended to be added at the top and these have been listed first.
