17 Henry Stubbersfeild of Chipstead in Chevening, son of Richard Stubbersfeild the elder of Chipstead, yeoman, being accused of fornication and begetting a child on Clemence Shoreman of Chipstead, by the advice of his father left the county although warned by a warrant to come before a Justice to be dealt with; and the said Richard afterward undertook to keep the child when it was born, so that when a daughter was born about five weeks before Christmas last, it was immediately taken away from the mother by the procurement of Richard's wife, and kept by him until Easter, when, since Henry, his son is now dead, he sent the child to the parish to be kept, thus overriding the parish of seeking the making of any order.
