Certificate by the Duke of Ormond of the service of Lawrence Smyth of Damagh, in the county of Kilkenny, as a captain in the regiment commanded by Sir Edmund Verney, during the reign of his late Majesty; of the killing of Captain Smyth, in action, at the taking of Drogheda by Cromwell; and of the Duke's unacquaintance with the giving of any reward for the services aforesaid, either to Valentine Smyth, now the representative of the deceased officer, or to any other of his children.
