This Battalion was formed by Col C K Potter in May 1940 as D Battalion Preston County LDV, but appears to have been numbered as the 5th County of Lancaster Preston County Battalion in February 1941. Its Headquarters were in Longridge, and later in the Kimberley Barracks, Preston, and its component platoons were based on the rural areas north of Preston, including Pilling, St Michaels-on-Wyre, Forton, Nateby, Bilsborrow, Grimsargh, Inglewhite, Catforth, Great Eccleston, Garstang, Longridge, Broughton and Lea |
