NORTH BOVEY

 

Institution to the Rectory and Parish Church of North Bovy in Co. Devon and Deanery of Moreton.

 

On 20. August 1670. the Bishop of Exeter in his Palace of Exeter admitted Francis Hore, Cleric, M.A., to the Rectory and Parish Church of North Bovy vacant by the death of William Lambert, Cleric, the last Incumbent, at the presentation of William Oxenham of South Tawton, Gent., true Patron (for this turn) of said Rectory, the advowson of which was granted by the Honourable William Powlett, Knight, Marquess of Winchester, the original Patron, and the Marchioness Lucy, his wife, to said William Lambert, Cleric, and afterwards by John Powlett, son of said Sir William Powlett, Marquess of Winchester, was confirmed to William Oxenham, it having been lawfully assigned to him; the said Francis Hore having sworn allegiance to the Royal Supremacy and promised canonical obedience and subscribed to the 39 Articles and the 3 Articles and the Declaration, was instituted to the Rectory.
