Description:

The Rev. Charles Cordiner [(?1746-1794) antiquary] at Banff to [the same], 12th or 13th April and 30th May: about Scottish antiquities, apparently in connection with the plan to publish his drawings and letters to Pennant. [These appeared in Antiquities and Scenery of the North of Scotland in a Series of Letters to Thomas Pennant, Esqr. By the Revd. Charles Cordiner, Minister of St.Andrew's Chapel Bamff, London 1780: the letters were written in the summer of 1776 and according to the first of these, Pennant regarded Cordiner's drawings as useful appendages to his Tours of Scotland. This publication probably included Introduction to the Extracts from Torfasus to which Cordiner also refers in the above letters]. Enclosed with the letters is one to Cordiner from a gentleman in Banff, 26th March 1777, concerning the style of Scottish writs.
