Title: "Church Book" of Port Vale Chapel
Description:

[Contains full particulars concerning the chapel and its members. Loose inside are lists of members, notes and accounts up to 1886. The Port Vale Chapel, opened in 1836, was the meeting place of a dissenting congregation formed after the Rev. Bernard Gilpin, formerly rector of St Andrews, Hertford, and part of his congregation had broken away from the Established Church. The chapel became Calvinist, and continued in use until 1922, when it was closed. This volume was sent to the Registrar General by Miss A M Benson, sister of the last surviving trustee of the chapel, and deposited by him with the rector of Bengeo, who already had the register of baptisms and marriages in the chapel (DP17/29/2) in his possession]
