Title: | Programme ('Dance Music of Four Centuries') |
Description: |
Concert programme (typed, duplicated), with notes by Munrow, for a concert ("Dance Music of Four Centuries") given by James Bowman and the Early Music Consort of London, on 22 June, 1974, at The Maltings, Snape ("BBC deferred relay"). The venue is not indicated in the programme; however, that information is given in a memorandum circulated by Gill Munrow to members of the Consort, advising summer arrangements for 1974 (to be found in the file for Eleanor Sloan, DM/2/2/27/10). The programme began with French dance music of the 12th and 13th centuries, continued with English and Italian dance music from the 13th and 14th centuries, two English carols ("Comedentes convenites" and "Sing we to this merry company"), four basse dances, five dances by Anthony Holborne, four lute songs (Thomas Lupo, Thomas Campion, John Danyel, John Dowland), and finished with a number of dances from Terpsichore(Michael Praetorius, 1612). |
