Administrative / biographical background:

Opened as a United Methodist Church in 1901, part of the Prudhoe Street Circuit. In 1977 it was proposed that Clayton Road Methodist Church should amalgamate with it but this did not take place until 1990. In the early 1980s the church was extended with the former church becoming the church hall.
