Administrative / biographical background: |
Chelsea College was founded in 1898 by Dorette Wilke within the south Western Polytechnic, Chelsea. In 1947 Eastbourne Education Authority took over its administration and responsibility for its transfer to permanent buildings in Eastbourne from the London County Council. In September 1976 the College was amalgamated with Eastbourne College of Education and Seaford College of Education to form Eastbourne College of Higher Education (E/SC/201). It lost its separate identity in the 1970s, when it became part of Brighton Polytechnic (now Brighton University) |
