Samuel Nathan, the founder of the Nathan jewellery business worked in Liverpool in the 18th century. His son came to Birmingham c 1860 and built up the business along with his younger brother Ellis. The workshop was in Vyse Street. His son Frederick Nathan, carried on the business which was taken over by his sons Reuben and Leonard (donor's father) and is now run by the donor. |
