Recites a deed poll by John and Ruth Baker to Richard Gibbs and John Chantler in trust settling sums on their children; death of Ruth and partition of Farnden estate allotting her third of Crowham to JB senior for life, remainder to Gibbs in trust for sale to raise portions, remainder to JB junior; mortgage by JB junior to George Hooper (KIR/5/1) of his reversion, 2 and 3 Feb 1711; GH indebted to Robert Baker of Mayfield gent in £1,000 and John France of Fishall in Hadlow, Kent gent in £1,200 and assignment of mortgage to them (Robert Bicknell of the Inner Temple trustee), 28 and 29 Jan 1713; further charge of £68 4s, JB junior to JF, 30 Jan 1714; enjoyment of estate by John Baker junior, senior and by Peter Baker who paid the portions; death of PB in 1729 and entry by his son Michael who has held ever since; assignment by John France to Barton and Swaine (his sons-in-law); legal estate still vested in Eleanor Johnson of Watling Street, London widow, only sister and heir of Richard Gibbs the surviving trustee, 16 and 17 Aug 1734; conspiracy between Eleanor Johnson, Michael Baker, Thomas Fuller esq (executor of JB junior and Peter B), George Wenham of Rotherfield clerk and wife Dorothea, John Laffeham [recte Laugham] of Mayfield surgeon and wife Lucy, Martha Godman of Uckfield widow, Ruth Fuller of Chipstead, Kent widow, George Baker of Mayfield gent and John Luck of Speldhurst, Kent gent (administrator of Charity his wife); refusal by EJ and MB to sell and allegation by MB that 1711 mortgage was unlawful; seek sub pena
