Ts memoirs (164pp) (privately printed) covering the whole of his life from 1896-1970, including his training at Woolwich, his service with C Battery, 126th Brigade, RHA, 37th Division (April 1915) and the 128th Battery RHA 29th Brigade, 4th Division (May 1915-1919) in France. He gives short accounts of the Battle of the Somme, the Battle of Ayras (April 1917), the Third Battle of Ypres, and the March 1918 retreat. Later sections include a antique of the Hong Kong defences in 1936 and very brief details of his postings to German Section MI 3 (1939-40, EEM/F) and to Allied Forces HQ in preparation for Operation Torch. After the Second World War he was given command of the Military Section of the British Mission to Hungary (1945/6). Mockler-Ferryman also gives interesting descriptions of Alanbrooke (1941) and the introduction of the term 'Top Secret.' |
