Promise to take wood only by view of the lord

 

Agnes de La Roche = (1)

 

Sir Robert de La Roche = (2)

 

Recites chirograph made between (1) and (2), heir of Richard de La Roche former husband of (1), such that (2) is bound to (1) in reasonable estovers in his wood of Tremodret, for making and maintaining buildings and all appurtenances of (2)'s lordship, without any interference, as long as she dwells in that fee; now (1) grants that nothing shall be cut or removed in that wood by (1) or her servants, except by view of the lord of the wood, or of his woodward; if she contravenes this grant, her right of estover is to be abolished.

 

Universis Christi fidelibus ad quos presens scriptum pervenerit Agnes de La Roche salutem in domino sempiternam: cum dominus Robertus de La Roche, heres domini Ricardi de La Roche quondam viri mei, in rationabili astoverio in bosco suo de Tremodret ad edificia faciend' et sustinend' et ad omnia domini mee pertinentia, prout in littera inter me et dictum Robertum ad modum cirografi decisa continetur, mihi sine aliquo perturbacione tenetur, dummodo in eodem feodo moram faciam, volo et concede quod nec per me nec per aliquem meorum aliquid in dicto bosco scindatur nec ab eodem deferatur, nisi per visum domini dicti bosci vel eiusdem custodis; et si contra dictam concessionem venero, volo quod dictum astoverium adnichiletur. In cuius rei testimonium presenti script sigillum meum apposui. Dat' apud Bleydpol die martis prox' post Pasch', anno regni Regis E. undecimo.

 

Seal of (1) [completely crumbled]; deed stuck to 19th-century wrapper.
