Chichester family of Grenofen, Whitchurch

 

The family was a branch of the Chichester family of Hall, Bishops Tawton and acquired Grenofen after the marriage of William Henry Chichester to Harriet Elizabeth Carpenter, eldest daughter of the Reverend Jonathan Phillips Carpenter of Grenofen in 1853. The latter also owned the manor of Chillaton in the parish of Milton Abbot.

 

In 1903 Gertrude, the youngest daughter of William Henry Chichester married Col Paul Treby Clark of Efford Manor.
