Administrative / biographical background:

Cecil George Andrews was born in Bow in 1888, attended Malmesbury Road School from 1893 to 1902, and worked as a chemist at William Pearce & Sons Ltd of Bow Common from 1902 to 1911. He was prominent in the Temperance Movement, and was also a Methodist lay preacher. He married Ada Emily Griggs (also born in 1888) in 1909; they had met at Bow Common Methodist Mission Sunday School. Ada Andrews died in 1964, Cecil Andrews in 1991.
