Administrative / biographical background:

The Learning Difficulties and/or Disabilities Committee was set up by the Chairman of the FEFCE to inform and advise him on the best ways to carry out his legal responsibility to ensure that students with learning disabilities were fully provided for at the further education level. The Committee was set up in 1993, under the chairmanship of professor John Tomlinson, Director of the Institute of Education at the University of Warwick. It carried out extensive reviews and produced its report in autumn 1996, and was disbanded in the same year.
