Description:
Petitioners: Nicholas Canne (Cam).
Name(s): Canne (Cam), Nicholas
Addressees: Lords and others of the prince's council.
Nature of request: Canne shows that he was lawfully seised of a messuage and 160 acres of land in Malling and 'Ingebarowe' until Archer, claiming to be the prince's servant disseised him, and still does continue by the colour of his position as servant. Canne dare not attempt the law against him because he is the prince's servant, until he has first complained to the prince's grace and the lords of his council, trusting by the same to have a good remedy according to his right as he should have by the common law. He requests that the matter be considered and that Archer be called before the council, and that the right and title of both parties be examined in the premises, and that justice me administered upon this according to the council's wisdom.
Nature of endorsement: Let letters be made to make him come before the chancellor of the Lord Prince within four days after receiving the same.

Throughout this file, the latter date range has been adopted where no evidence survives to indicate more specific dates. The petition is probably a bit later than SC 8/344/E300.
