Reference: SC 8/291/14541
Description:
Petitioners: Fortz de Pegeres, clerk of Barrau de Sescas.
Name(s): de Pegeres, Fortz
Addressees: King and council.
Occupation: clerk of Barrau de Sescas
Nature of request: Fortz de Pegeres, clerk of Barrau de Sescas, states that he has been in the king's service throughout the war, and that because of the war the French destroyed his houses at Roquetaillade and Castelnau-de-Sarneis. He and his brothers have lost their lands, and their houses will cost more than £300 of Bigorre to rebuild. He asks the king to give him and give him grace of the sergeanty of Vianne or the sergeanty of Marmande, and, if he does not wish to give it to him of his grace, that he might have it for life for a rent of £10 tournois.
Nature of endorsement: The Seneschal is to be ordered to have him provided with this or with some other suitable for him, according to what he does for others, if he is suitable for this.
Places mentioned: France; Roquetaillade, [Guyenne, France]; Castelnau-de-Sarneis [unidentified], [Guyenne, France]; Vianne, [Guyenne, France]; Marmande, [Guyenne, France].
People mentioned: Barrau de Sescas.
Note: A note at the beginning of this file, signed R. L. Atkinson and dated 9 March 1932, states, 'Nos 14511-50 and 14551-80 in the next file appear to form an original file, or at any rate a conjunction of some duration. Such as can be dated appear to belong to the year 1305, or thereabouts, so the remainder may provisionally be regarded as belonging to this date'. This petition is therefore given a tentative date of 1305.
