Endorsement: The reply of Robert Aldernes and Robert Fenrother, Sheriffs: Hugh Brice was not found in their bailiwick. They have extended all his lands and seized them into the King's hands.
Note: Inquisition and return: Date to be returned: 05/06/1513. Attached is the inquisition made at the Guildhall of London on 04/05/1513 before Robert Aldernes and Robert Fenrother, Sheriffs. On the day of the recognisance Hugh Brice, knight, formerly a citizen and alderman of London and the grandfather of Hugh Brice, was seised in demesne to the use of the Hugh named in the writ and his heir, of: a messuage in the Parish of St Mary Wolnoth in Lombard Street in the Ward of Langbourn, worth 46s. 8d. a year; and another messuage in the same parish and ward in which Robert Amadas, goldsmith, lives, worth 46s. 8d.; also, another messuage in the same parish and ward in which Nicholas Warley, goldsmith, lives, worth £5; also, another messuage in the same parish in which William Hilton {Hylton}, tailor, lives, worth £4; also, a messuage in the Parish of St Matthew, Friday Street, in Farringdon Ward inhabited by Ralph Rowlat, goldsmith, worth £6 13s. 4d. after expenses; also, a messuage inhabited by John Allen {Aleyn}, goldsmith, worth 53s. 4d.; also, a messuage inhabited by Thomas Tiplady {Typlady}, broiderer, worth 30s.; another messuage inhabited by John Russell, goldsmith, worth 30s.; another messuage inhabited by a widow, worth 16s. 4d.; and another messuage inhabited by Henry Coutt {Coote}, goldsmith, worth 5s. The property altogether is worth £24 14s. 8d. a year after expenses. [There are other messuages listed, tenanted by goldsmiths, which are only partially legible. The value of the whole property appears to be £24 14s. 8d. a year].
