Description:
Petitioners: Monks of Bindon.
Addressees: King and council.
Nature of request: The monks of Bindon state that they have been completely ruined by the machinations of the King's ministers and by a malevolent Abbot, John de Montagu, who has rightly been expelled. They ask that the gifts and grants made under their stolen common seal, between the feast of St Nicholas in the King's second year and the present, might be repealed, that they might be given some suitable remedy for their plundered goods, and that they might be discharged of liveries, pensions and robes for three years.
