Details of SC 8/185/9209
Reference: SC 8/185/9209
Description:
Petitioners: Walter Amyas; John Abraham; John Donne; John Prat; Ralph de Walsham.
Name(s): Amyas; Abraham; Donne; Prat; de Walsham, Walter; John; John; John; Ralph
Addressees: King.
Nature of request: The petitioners request that the king summon before him in the present parliament the process of a judgment made regarding lands enfeoffed to them by the late Earl of Pembroke, so that they can show the errors and the king can annul the verdict. They state that the late earl enfeoffed them (and Crikkelade, now deceased) of the various lands contained in the attached schedule, with the exception of Ashill in Norfolk, but that following his death they were deprived of these lands by this judgement, which awarded them to the king as guardian of the earl's heir.
Nature of endorsement: [Long note ordering that the process of the judgment be viewed in the chancery, and right be done to the complainants. A further illegible note also appears at the foot.]
Places mentioned: Ashill, Norfolk; Gascony, [France].
People mentioned: John de Hastings, Earl of Pembroke; Thomas Crikkelade (Cricklade); Edward III, King of England; Anne [de Hastings, Countess of Pembroke].
Note: Dated on the guard, by Rees, and from internal evidence and its relationship with other related documents, to the period c. 1390-1.
Date: [c. 1390-c. 1391]
