Note: | Dated on the guard to? 1388 when, following the execution of Burley in May 1388, St Stephen's was able to establish its title to its intended share of the Leybourne inheritance lands (Given-Wilson, 'Richard II and his Grandfather's Will', p. 330). The endorsement orders Burley to appear before them on the third week after Easter, which would be the week beginning 19 April if the year is indeed 1388. The latest possible date for this petition is therefore March 1388. The earliest possible date is 1383, since it is in this year that Burley was granted licence to acquire the petitioners' lands (CPR 1381-5, p. 305). This petition should therefore be dated 1383-March 1388. | ||||||||||||||||
