Description:

Folios 78-81. Covering letter (ff 78 and 81) from Edwin Chadwick to Lord John Russell enclosing: private letter from Sir W E Parry to Thomas Frankland Lewis about disturbances in Great Bircham, Norfolk. Comments: 'Mr Blyth's letter is useful in shewing that the little Tradespeople are here, as elsewhere, at the bottom of the tumult. It also shows that the people were ripe for anything, and that the immediate cause of the tumult was not altogether the operation of the Poor Laws', 4 July 1835.
