Title: Home Office: Racial Disadvantage (RDI Symbol Series) Files
Description:

Files from the Home Office RDI series which came into existence in 1967. The subjects covered form the remit of the I Division within the Home Office; they deal with policy issues in the field of race relations generally as distinct from the more specific roles of the Commission for Racial Equality and the Immigration and Nationality Department.

These subjects include legislation in the field of race relations, community relations liaison, race relations research and statistics, ethnic monitoring, repatriation scheme under section 29 of the Immigration Act 1971, liaison with the Commission for Racial Equality and grants under section 11 of the Local Government Act 1966.

Date: 1963-2003
Arrangement:

The papers in this series are arranged by departmental file number. The inclusion of a date before a file number (as in RDI (1959) 5/1/1/) indicates that the year in which the file was created was included in the file reference number. Thus the full departmental reference of a file listed as RDI (1967) 5/1/1 would be RDI 67/5/1/1.
