John Clevland. Lord Anson has received an application from Mr Bird, Shipbuilder in the River, to be allowed to build a 3rd or 4th Rate for the Navy. Henry Bird Sr. And Company are building a sloop in the River and Henry Bird Jr. and Company have contracted to build a 70-gun ship near Southampton. Henry Bird Sr. Has no slip suitable to set up a 60 or 70-gun ship and could not build one of those lately ordered from merchant yards. He now proposes to make 2 slips into one which can take a 60 or 70-gun ship if required |
