The Board to Admiral Cavendish. Copy letter saying Beck was removed from the Centurion at the request of Captain Anson, not because of complaints. The Board has no doubt of his ability and if he is sent to London he will be given a letter to be examined by Surgeons' Hall. If he is successful he will be appointed to the Princess Caroline and no dispensation can be given.

23 May 1740 Copy letter from the Board to Admiral Cavendish. Until someone is qualified to serve as 1st Mate, a second mate will serve. As Beck is qualified he is appointed.
