Nature of request: William Wheteley, valet of John Arrundell of Trerice, one of the knights of the shire for Cornwall in the present parliament, states that he has been imprisoned in the Fleet prison at the suit of Robert Bridford of London in an action of trespass, and that despite a writ of Chancery to the Sheriffs of London to release him, was kept in prison until an inquest, procured and empanelled by the maintenance of Robert and others, found against him. He asks the commons to ask the King and lords, by authority of parliament, to have a writ sent to the warden of the Fleet prison to have him released, in accordance with the ancient usage that no-one in the service of any lord, knight or burgess coming to parliament should be arrested, imprisoned or molested during the parliament.
