Reference: SC 8/76/3760
Description:
Petitioners: Richard Tweytes, mason.
Name(s): Tweytes, Richard
Addressees: King.
Occupation: mason
Nature of request: Richard Tweytes states that although he was a mason working on a chapel in the Earl of Lancaster's castle of Kenilworth, he received nothing from him except for his wages for the work he did; and that when, a week before the King came to Warwick, the other masons left their work and joined the castle garrison, he stayed in his chamber at his own expense, and never fought against the King. He requests the King's letters to have delivery of his goods, which have been seized by Robert de Stoke, the King's minister.
Nature of endorsement: It is to be ordered that the King is to be informed of the manner and cause of the capture etc., and when the cause has been returned, justice is to be done to him there.
Places mentioned: Killingworth (Kenilworth), [Warwickshire]; Warwick, [Warwickshire].
People mentioned: [Thomas of Lancaster], Earl of Lancaster; Robert de Stoke, minister of Edward II.
