Cumberland to Newcastle, enclosing a letter from Sandwich. Poor state of affairs in the Netherlands. Bathiani shares his opinions, but Cumberland doubts that he can persuade his court. Soundness of the greffier. A Dutch proposal for sharing the expenses of the march of the Russians. He has written to the prince of Orange asking for his consent to embark the Russians at Wertheim. A successful sortie at Maastricht. Arrival of Albemarle. He has written to the prince of Orange suggesting a junction of the two armies and encloses a copy [SP 87/24/83]. He also encloses a copy of Chanclos' account of his retreat [SP 87/24/84]. Dated at headquarters at 'Hellenrouck'. PS. that the prince of Orange has consented to only the British battalions joining him from Breda. ff. 222-227 |
