Description:
Petitioners: King's demesne men in Lyme Regis.
Addressees: King and council.
Nature of request: The petitioners ask for a quayage for the replacement of a transport ship called a cobbe (which transports timber to and fro and has been destroyed by the force of the sea), to the king's profit and that of all the surrounding lands. They show that their town is on the sea and a haven for ships, and they now have no means of transport and maintenance without having other aid.
Nature of endorsement: Report that the town belongs to the king and witness that this is to the great improvement of the town. Establish quayage for five years, which issues are to be spent on this transport etc. They are to account concerning the taxes at the end of the term.
