Description:
Petitioners: Henry of Lancaster, Earl of Lancaster.
Name(s): of Lancaster; Earl of Lancaster, Henry
Addressees: King and council.
Nature of request: The petitioner seeks delivery of those knights fees in Devon and Cornwall that were held by Patrick de Chaworth and which were taken into the hands of King Edward I by reason of the nonage of Maud (daughter and heir of the said Patrick), the petitioner's spouse. The relevant inquisition [post mortem] was returned into chancery by the escheator of the said counties and from chancery into the exchequer. And now by order of the king it has been returned from the exchequer into chancery with certification of the evidences under the seal of the exchequer.
