Note: | CPR 1281-92 p.247 (a pardon to William de Munchensy of Edwardeston for trespasses charged against him before the justices last in Eyre in Essex, for which he fled and was put in exigent, on condition that he go to the Holy Land for ever) is dated at Canterbury, 10 May 1286. The rent has been withheld by William for some time before that, but as John de Beauchaump says that he has not received it for five years, this petition must date from before 1291. In any case it would seem to date from before 1 February 1292, the date of CFR 1272-1307 p.304 and CPR 1281-92 p.473 (the grant during pleasure of the custody of the manor of Westend in Foxearth, in the king's hand because of the trespasses of William de Munchensy, to John de Liston and Helewyse his wife: although this merely speaks of custody of the manor). It probably also dates from before the brief grant of William de Munchensy's lands to Queen Eleanor - although as she died soon after this, it is possible that John de Beauchaump has merely omitted it from his petition. CPR 1281-92 p.394 is dated at Rufford, 12 November 1290. It says that the lands granted to the queen are those of William de Munchensy in Edwardeston, whereas CCR 1288-96 p.108, dated at King's Clipstone, 2 November 1290, speaks of the lands of William de Munchensy of Edwardeston: probably there is a misprint in CPR 1281-92 p.394. On the basis of this, c. 1286 -1291 is given as a date for this petition. | ||||||||||||||
