Description:
Petitioners: Stephen Dabyndon (Abingdon), butler of Edward II.

Addressees: King.
Nature of request: Dabyndon states that he bought substantial quantities of wine by order of Edward II by the hands of his attorneys, and at his own expense as he can show by a roll. The sum is in arrears for the eighteenth year at the Exchequer, and he is unable to have it without a warrant. He requests that the king order letters to the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer that they allow the sum to Dabyndon in accordance with the livery of wine.
Nature of endorsement: Because it is known by the council and also attested by the bishop of Chester late keeper of the wardrobe of Edward II, that the king made such orders as the petition alleges, and as it is also attested by William de Herlaston who carried the privy seal at some time that Dabyndon sued to have an allowance, and this the king allowed; Let the oaths be taken in Chancery of Dabyndon and de la Pole, now butler, and as they will find by their oaths that livery was as is supposed let it be ordered to the treasurer and barons etc. to allow that their testimony be accepted as sufficient proof.

Note: Probably dating to late 1327 or thereafter. The king is recorded as dead. It is unlikely that Abingdon could have waited too long for the debt to be repaid.
