Description:

[Major General] John Huske to Chesterfield, enclosing an report from Bergen op Zoom [SP 87/23/11]. The bearer was told by a Dutch skipper that Zandvliet had fallen. Breda could not hold out many days, but Bergen op Zoom should make a good defence. Lord John Murray has gone there with two regiments of highlanders. The French have 40 armed vessels at Dendermonde. He quotes from a letter from Rotterdam on the campaign in Italy. Dated at Flushing. ff. 18, 19
