Description: |
Adam Cardonnel to Under Secretary George Tilson: [partially in cipher] circumstances have not improved, although communications with Ostend are restored. They are short of money and forage. Bad weather is moving in, and there is little hope of taking the town [Lille]. Dated at camp at Lanoy. Continuation dated 29 September: The arrival of the troops from the Ostend convoy has restored some hope. Officers taken going into the town with powder say that Boufflers has sent to Vendôme to say that he has enough for only nine days more. ff. 127-130 |
