Description: |
Marlborough to Boyle: parliament has voted £220,000 for the augmentation of troops for the next campaign, and he will attempt to make the Dutch match it. The French are reinforcing themselves from all parts, even Spain. Marshal de Boufflers may attempt to regain Ghent. He encloses a letter from the earl of Athlone and Major General Cralingen regarding arrears due to the Dutch troops from the last war. Settlement of these would save him from much importuning.
