Major General Murray to Marlborough: having heard of the fall of Ghent, he presented himself before the port of Bruges [Zeebrugge] and called upon the burghers to open the gates. They refused, in the presence of Baron d'Audegnies, and it was clear that they had willingly given up the town to the French. Dated at Sas van Gent. ff. 113, 114
