Marlborough to Harley: he will attempt to exchange the three officers requested by the duke of Savoy and Prince Eugene. He encloses his answer [SP 87/2/226] to those who are applying to him for prolongations. He is giving all the encouragement he can to such Irish [in enemy service] who may wish to desert. He will see Gelderhalsen next day and settle the matter of the treaty for the Hessian troops. Overkirk is almost ready to open the trenches [at Ostend]. Marlborough has sent the Hessians and Hanoverians to Alost, to cover Brussels, etc. Dated at camp at Rousselaer. ff. 457, 458 |
