Marlborough to Harley [on his arrival from England]: the French have detached troops [from the low countries] to Germany. The king of Prussia persists in sending his troops to Wesel, and Marlborough encloses a copy [SP 87/2/189] of the letter he has sent him. The king has new proposals for the queen and the states [general], which Marlborough considers unreasonable. The duke of Anjou is besieging Barcelona. Admiral Leake has defeated a French fleet [off Gibraltar]. Dated at The Hague. PS. that he has received a letter from the elector of Hanover, and encloses his reply. ff. 377, 378 |
