Following the reorganisation, the Division comprised two branches: PG1 and PG2. The functions of the branches were as follows:

PG1: Constitution, organisation and functions of economic planning councils and boards. Economic Planning Board for East Anglia. Planning for East Anglia.

PG2: Office development policy. Office development permits for London and South East. Economic Planning Board for South East.

In late 1971, following a reorganisation of the Planning Divisions, the number of branches were expanded to three, the functions of which were:

PG1: Land compensation. Planning and open space land transactions. Disposal of surplus government land. Development by Government Departments.

PG2: Office development policy. Office development permits for London and South East.

PG3: Assessment and collection of betterment levy. Disposal of land acquired for Land Commission.

Following a further reorganisation in 1972 the Planning Division G and its branches were abolished and the functions split between Planning Land Use Policy and South East and East Anglia Directorate
