This series contains headquarters and regional office files relating to the function of the Land Commission, the buying and selling of land. The files include both general policy and case files relating to acquisitions proposed or effected in pressure and other areas, as well as such matters as the availability, use and disposal of land and consultation with government departments, local authorities and other bodies. Some of the files continued in use in the Department of the Environment after the dissolution of the Commission until 1973 and include some Private Office papers from that department. The series also contains some levy (LEV) and finance (FIN) files in addition to the main series of lands (LAN) files. |
