This Commission was appointed by Royal Warrant in May 1935 to investigate whether the existing status of Merthyr Tydfil as a county borough should be continued, and if not, what alternative arrangements should be made for its local government, having regard to its own interests and to those of the surrounding counties and county districts. The Commission's report was published in 1936 (as Cmd. 5039). This series includes minutes of meetings and a summary of evidence all of which were unpublished. The files have been arranged in registered file sequence. |
