Administrative / biographical background:

This statutory committee was constituted by the Board under paragraph 25(2) of the Potato Marketing Schemes 1933 and 1955 (SI 1933/1186 and 1955/690). Under the latter it consisted of no more than eleven persons, at least three being Board members and two nominees of such organisation as the Board thought best qualified to express the views of Scottish potato merchants.

Its function was to consider and advise on matters particularly affecting the marketing of potatoes produced in Scotland.

In December 1989 the Committee merged with the Seed Potato Advisory Committee.
