Description:

This series contains registered files of the successive divisions of the Ministry of Technology, the Ministry of Aviation Supply and of the Department of Trade and Industry which were responsible for the government's industrial relationships with the aircraft industry. The files relate to policy on the structure and organisation of the industry, with especial reference to Short Bros and Harland Ltd and to Beagle Aircraft Ltd. They also deal with the implementation of the report of the Plowden Committee, and include the records of the resultant Elstub Committee. Later files deal with the nationalisation of the aircraft industry and the creation of British Aerospace.

Some of the files were re-registered from the BM series, inherited from Air A4 Branch and Air C Division of the Ministry of Aviation.
